Dr. Renu Bhupathy has a background in research, clinical medicine, leadership, operations management, and teaching. She started her medical career at Kaiser Permanente in Southern California as a Board Certified Family Physician. Following many years at Kaiser, she worked in a private practice where she gained several management skills related to running a medical practice. Then, she started teaching medical students by mentoring in problem based learning and clinical skills sessions at the University of California, Riverside, and became passionate about her role in medical education. This lead her to take a position with CUSM to help develop the Clinical Skills program and teach their first medical student class.

Working alongside the Clinical Skills Team, Dr. Bhupathy has been involved in developing the service learning and standardized patient components of the program. Along with her role in teaching Clinical Skills, she hopes to continue to be an integral part of CUSM and eventually become involved in other aspects of education, teaching, and research.
