Position Purpose

Provides oversight of the Clinical Skills Lab and the OSCE rooms supporting the implementation of clinical skills and service-learning curriculum, based on the mission and philosophy of the University.

Clinical Skills & Simulation Lab Management

  • Plans and oversees the day-to-day activities of the Clinical Skills laboratory, participating in budgeting, program management, staffing, training and supervision and scheduling.
  • Manages the clinical skills lab space, storage of equipment, storage space, (e.g., equipment, reviews, schedules, maintain safety guidelines and procedures, and inspections schedule) and the use of associated materials and supplies.
  • Collaborates with the Director with the planning and delivery of clinical skills curriculum
  • Prepares for the simulation sessions, interprofessional education activities, clinical skills sessions, and OSCEs.
  • Ensures that University policies and procedures are being followed.
  • Recruits and organizes the training of standardized/simulated patients (SPs) for the Clinical Skills and simulation curriculum.
  • Assists the Director to establish more community sites and clinical sites.
  • Prepares annual and scheduled reports
  • Develops quality standards; monitors and maintains quality of clinical lab operations.

Administrative

  • Supervises the clinical skills laboratory setting and OSCE rooms.
  • Assists the Director with the purchase and set up of mannequins, simulators, task trainers and other materials, supplies, and new instruments, working with vendors and negotiating contracts costs.
  • Ensures all equipment are in excellent working conditions by setting up maintenance contracts and inspections
  • Manage vendor contracts and billing invoices for the purchase and set-up of new instruments, materials, supplies, and new instruments
  • Communicates effectively with the Clinical skills director, clinical skills faculty, and staff.
  • Applies knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of current policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Demonstrates interest in continuous professional development and/ or attending and providing training sessions.
  • Performs other related tasks as requested or assigned.


Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Three years of experience in an academic institution assisting in curriculum delivery.
  • Current CPR and BLS certification.
  • Demonstrated high attention to detail. Demonstrated skill in analyzing information to define and follow up on problems or objectives.
  • Identify solutions and independently act toward solving problems.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills to communicate and interact effectively with colleagues, faculty and students.
  • Demonstrated skill in effectively using a computer and applications such as Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and Power Point).
  • Ability to work in a clinical laboratory environment; moderate changes in temperature and noise; and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment.
  • Must successfully complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen/physical and background check through the Department of Justice.


Preferred Qualification

  • Master’s Degree in healthcare of health sciences related filed
  • Experience in a university or higher education environment.
  • Knowledge of clinical skills laboratory operations and/or procedures.
  • Knowledge of the appropriate use of personal protective equipment, hazardous materials containment, sharps containment, chemical storage, and other related health and safety protocols .
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state regulatory requirements for clinical settings and laboratories.
  • Familiar with B-line, SIMMAN, task trainers
