Position Description

The coordinator will work under the general guidance of the Director of Assessment, and be responsible for systematic collection of data, data analysis/management, and data display tools. This person will provide support to course directors and faculty during student assessment and evaluation, work with IT to ensure that examinations and evaluations are organized and administered efficiently, and schedule rooms for assessments. The coordinator will also provide support services to the curriculum as directed, assist in managing and maintenance of course and class schedules and tasks related to curriculum, provide support during committee meetings, and work closely with faculty and instructional designers. The coordinator must be familiar with online examination software systems, and will be responsible for entering/logging assessment items into these systems.

Essential Function % Time



  1. Assists faculty with the planning and development of relevant classroom curricula, case studies, and/or tutorials as appropriate to program objectives, protocol, and standards.
  2. Serves as liaison between faculty, tutors, and/or technical support staff in all aspects of the production and delivery of curriculum and related materials; oversees the production, and publication of both printed and computerized copy and materials.
  3. Schedules, organizes, and facilitates the delivery of curriculum and other educational programming; presents or assists in the presentation of established curriculum, as appropriate to the individual position.
  4. Coordinates and assists faculty in the implementation of aspects of curricula.
  5. Compiles information, updates, formats and edits, for grammar and accuracy, publications related to curriculum. Coordinates publication of materials in consultation with appropriate resource persons.
  6. Designs, develops, and maintains program databases and records systems; may assist in the preparation of reports on educational activities and events.
  7. Applies knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of current policies, procedures and regulations. Supports planning and delivery of curriculum/assessment training as appropriate; may attend and/or participate in related training programs and/or workshops.
  8. Supports ongoing maintenance of technological platforms that will link course content, activities and assessments.

Essential Function % Time



  • Provide support to course directors and faculty in student assessment and evaluation.
  • Assist in the development of improved assessment tools.
  • Track assessments across courses and programs to ensure that assessment systems are in place for annual reporting for program review and other accreditation activities.
  • Analyze quantitative and qualitative data
  • Work with course directors towards timely reporting of student grades.
  • Keep positive communication and sharing of knowledge and resources as appropriate to improve SOM operations.
  • Communicates and corresponds with faculty, tutors, and/or technical support staff in aspects of curriculum delivery and assessments.
  • Organizes and attends meetings as requested. Provides information as requested.
  • Maintains filing system and prepares material for archiving. Resolves related problems. Uses word/data processing software and various computerized applications.
  • Orders and purchases project supplies and materials for curriculum and assessment.
  • May travel to other relevant community venues, as required, in support of curricular and assessment activities.
  • Work independently and demonstrate initiative
  • Performs other related tasks as requested or assigned.

Minimum Requirement

  • A Bachelor's degree.
  • Practical knowledge of, or experience using and/or developing with of the following applications: Canvas LMS,Web Conferencing tools, Microsoft Office, SPSS, SAS, R, or similar statistical software.
  • Demonstrated skill in effectively using a computer and applications such as Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point. Demonstrated skill in developing publications, correspondence, spreadsheets and databases.
  • Experience in statistics; data management and analysis; assessment and evaluation software/systems; or related field.
  • Demonstrated skill in proofreading materials. Must recognize and correct errors in conformance to established standards & guidelines, spelling, grammar and punctuation. Demonstrated ability to set up and maintain filing/records systems. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of information and records.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact professionally with diplomacy, patience and courtesy with diverse groups; ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships while providing exceptional customer service.
  • Ability to work with students, faculty, staff, and administrators in a multicultural/multiethnic environment
  • Demonstrated skill in working independently and completing assignments with minimal supervision. Must effectively prioritize assignments to complete work in a timely and accurate manner under pressure of deadlines, and with frequent interruptions and competing priorities. Must be able to adjust priorities quickly, multitask and have excellent organizational skills. Experience in a fast paced, high volume environment providing support.
  • Knowledge of assessment methods, instruments, benchmarking and best practices.
  • Demonstrated high attention to detail. Demonstrated skill in analyzing information to define and follow up on problems or objectives. Can identify solutions and independently act toward solving problems.
  • Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills to communicate and interact effectively with colleagues, faculty, students, and visitors.
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time and use computer; stand, walk, bend, intermittently throughout the day. Ability to work in a typical office environment with minimum exposure to changes in noise and temperature.
  • Must successfully complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen/physical and background check through the Department of Justice.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years' experience in a directly related role; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, and the knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
  • Demonstrated experience in use of technology for collection, analysis, and reporting of data.
  • Familiarity of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) (20 U.S.C. ยง 1232g; 34 CFR Part 99). This law applies to all schools that receive funds under an applicable program of the U.S. Department of Education.
